Summary
On shaking legs, Eddie slowly stood up and turned to face Dustin again. Though he had been expecting it, Eddie felt a punch in the gut as he took in the image before him. He saw himself, lying in Dustin’s arms, covered in blood. His eyes were wide open, staring into nothing. Unblinking. Eddie could feel bile rising in his throat. That was him. His body. He was dead, but somehow he was still here, still around.
Eddie sat down hard on the ground, eyes still glued to the pair in front of him.
“Fuck.”
(Or, Eddie becomes a ghost after he dies and, though he can't communicate through normal channels, tries to find his way back to the Party)

The second Chris saw the beat-up leather journal with “Property of Eddie Diaz” emblazoned on the front in a somewhat childish version of his dad’s familiar scrawl, he knew that he should put it back beneath the loose floorboard where it had stayed hidden away for probably a decade and a half. No doubt placed there as a way of keeping it hidden from the prying hands of two nosy younger sisters and parents that Chris was increasingly learning could be unbearably overbearing.
But he didn’t want to.

Summary
He’s still reeling from the weird alternate reality he experienced while in the coma, even as visitors trickle in and out of his room the rest of the day, and especially when Eddie is back at his bedside. Because why the hell wouldn’t this other life he dreamed up include Eddie at all? And okay sure, it was mentioned when he found Chim and Hen as he worked his way through what his mind had cooked up. But he even saw Chris in passing too, running around that hospital, trying to find his answers and way out of the coma. It’s just – every other important person in his life was there, he could see them, feel them, even if they weren’t really themselves.
Everyone except Eddie.
(Or: After Buck is struck by lightning, he starts experiencing some very hyper-realistic dreams)

Summary
Three weeks after Eddie leaves for Texas, Buck gets a call in the middle of the night from a trauma center in El Paso. Eddie was in a serious car accident and has been rushed into surgery for a skull fracture. Buck rushes to Texas, finding that things are even messier than he imagined, and that's before Eddie wakes up and confesses that he's not sure it was actually an accident. That he might have done it on purpose. So Buck does what his parents never did for him: he steps in, all the way, and helps put his little family back together.
