Everything goes quiet like the currents had delivered him into the vacuum of space, swallowing every drop of noise except for the voice calling out to him, the screeching of the haunting waves replaced by the sweet mummers of his name.
Beomgyu's almost sure they've imagined it—that brief moment of calmness. He can already see the waves rushing back, once again ready to envelop him in their suffocating embrace before he hears it a second time.
"Beomgyu? Beomgyu? Sweetheart?"
Not their imagination. Very, very real. The surrounding waters break apart to reveal the sky above and safe, beautiful dry land.
"Jagiya, take deep breaths. Remember, in for four, out for eight."
