The voice was almost drowned out among the din of the brothel, but it was close enough for Caitlyn to hear the woman. Not just the words, but the familiarity. The genuine fondness. The fake, forced, seductive lilt that had been practiced so much it was second nature. She didn't miss the way Vi went rigid beside her, either.
Caitlyn knew that when she turned around, she was going to see one of the escorts. One that, by the sound of it, Vi had visited many times- likely during her pit fighting days. That's... fine. Nothing to get worked up about.
She turned to tell the strumpet to buzz off and find someone else to pester, but Caitlyn felt her entire brain seize up when she saw the courtesan.
