Summary
Denton Miller was Carlos' first case after being promoted to detective, a cruel start to his promising career. The killer had taunted the police - sending videos of his gruesome murders, littering them with clues for where to find the bodies once he had disposed of them. It hadn't taken Carlos and his partner long to figure it all out, putting Denton away for good.
But he realizes, now, that maybe it was too easy, that the puzzle pieces fit a little too well together.
Because the serial killer has escaped, throwing Carlos and his loved ones into his game as the next unwilling participants.
How is Carlos going to outsmart Denton this time? The stakes are impossibly higher and the rules have changed - it's his husband on the other side of the screen.

Summary
“Can you come home soon?”
He knows Carlos can’t. He knows Carlos isn’t off until six, and often it ends up being later than that anyway. “Nope. You’re gonna have to amuse yourself.”
“Oh, I am.”
Carlos swallows. Something in TK’s voice has him pausing and listening a little bit more intently to the background on the phone call. He can hear a soft rustling, and his eyes widen as he slows the car down at a red light. “TK …”
“Yeah?”
“Are you fucking naked right now?” -

Summary
Through his endless searching, TK is sure of exactly two things:
Gender is a stupid fucking construct.
And that he is most certainly not a cisgendered man. More… male-adjacent. Masculine, but in a way that he knows isn’t the same as Paul or Mateo.
or,
A conversation about gender with Paul and Mateo makes TK rethink the way he knows himself and spirals thinking about how Carlos might take it.

Summary
"He likes his space, dad."
"Your mother and I liked space too," Owen agrees with a nod. Then, he looks down at the soup in front of him, spoon clinking on the side of the bowl as he stirs, "and then we got a divorce," He adds at almost a whisper, as if he and the vegetables were in on a secret and only they were supposed to hear.
"You and mom also fought constantly," TK finally snaps, pointing at his father with the spoon in his hand, driblets of the broth falling onto the table, "Alex and I don't. We disagree, we don't fight." He ignores the way Owen looks between the mess and his face and stares intently at the remnants of his dinner.
"He's disagreeing with you, is more like it," Owen grumbles around the spoon in his mouth.
or,
A little insight on the couple weeks before the biggest proposal fail of the century, because I can't stop thinking about pre-canon TK, ever.
