“You know, Max said that you might be jealous or something. And I didn’t wanna believe her, because why on earth would you be, but now I’m thinking she’s not that far off. Are you jealous? Is that what this is?”
There’s something familiar in his tone, or in the quick escalation of a situation out of Mike’s control, that strikes him right in the chest. Will looks as furious as ever, and he’s thrown back to almost a decade ago, fighting in the humid summer rain and all the fights they had after. Will always had a way of laying things bare, and while he didn’t do it often, it never failed to act as a quick smack upside the head for Mike, because it was only Will who could find the right thread to pull and untangle things.
Of course he’s jealous. Will’s the only thing that’s ever made the world make any sense for Mike. How could he ever find a way to put the enormity of that into words?
or, Mike and Will get stuck in an elevator after a night out, right in the middle of their first big fight as roommates. They talk it out.
