If someone came up to me and asked me what I wanted in a Mycroft/Lestrade fic, I would just point to this story. It has become the default for me, by which I mean I judge all other fics in this pairing by this story and I wish I could go back and read it for the first time all over again. I have read it far too many times for my own good, but I am unlikely to stop any time soon.
