Summary
A heatwave has hit Hillwood in early May. Arnold and Helga, now eighteen, struggle to study for their final exams. The boarding house is hot and empty, the rest of the Shortman family have left for the week, and Helga and Arnold are completely alone. Arnold finds himself in an internal battle of restraint, between promising his parents no "monkey business" with his long-term girlfriend while he lived under the same roof, versus giving up the "Golden Boy" act—surrendering to his deepest desires, now buried inside for a year and a half since he returned from San Lorenzo after two long years.
