To some extent, Marc likes it, the power he’s got on Valentino nowadays. The fact that Valentino doesn’t attend certain events just because he knows Marc will be there gives him a sort of perverse pleasure, cutting and sharp, like barbed wire.
He chews carefully through every course. From the info he gathered, there will be a charity auction after the Michelin Star dinner, that sort of thing that seems to entertain bored, rich people to no ends. Valentino isn’t here to bid, though. It’s just that his leathers will be auctioned off for some good cause Marc hasn’t bothered with researching, and he had to be here to convince someone to buy it.
Marc could. Bidding starts at ten thousand euros – it’s a ridiculously small amount of money for him, he could even do it without informing his wealth manager in advance. Folding his napkin on his lap, Marc really thinks about it. Thinks about how it would look inside one of his glass showcases, dark blue amongst a sea of flashy Repsol Honda colors. Swarmed by it.

‘Look who’s soaked for me?’ Valentino drawls, his gaze locked with Marc’s. Marc doesn’t hide how turned on this makes him, his eyes heavy-lidded and impossibly darker. ‘You just talk a whole lot of shit, don’t you, Márquez?’
‘You talk too much generally,’ Marc responds, pulling Valentino close by fisting the middle of his shirt and yanking. He’s strong, too strong, and the motion almost causes them to butt heads, but Valentino steadies himself on his knees. ‘Do what you do best.’
‘Are you going to beg for it?’ Valentino asks, his nose finding the beauty mark next to Marc’s nostril and nuzzling it. He kisses the corner of Marc’s mouth as the younger says:
‘No. I won’t beg for you, Rossi.’
