Summary
Mari had always been a bitch. In fact, Shauna was pretty sure Mari had come out of the womb a fully fledged bitch. The first time the two ever even interacted with one another had ended with disaster. The memory felt like a scar on Shauna's brain. Her entire second year of college blurred together, except for that night. The party, the argument, the slap. She was pretty sure she had driven her roommate crazy that year with the crying. Though that was a secret only the two of them knew, it would be humiliating to admit someone like Mari could get that much of a rise out of her.
It was like it got worse as the girl aged, too. Her most recent offense being some shitty attempt at sexting Jackie's boyfriend.
Now though? Trying to poach a legacy? That was a new low, even for her.

Summary
Shauna grabs her by the shoulders and pins her to the wall, forearm pressed tightly against her throat. “Keep Jackie’s name out of your whiny fucking mouth, Ibarra,” Shauna seethes, not seeing Mari so much as a ball of fire, a Mari-shaped glowing orb labeled “OPPONENT.” She digs her arm in deeper, going in for the kill. “You’re going to stop fucking pushing me, Mari, or you’re gonna find out what can happen when I’m pushed.”
Mari wheezes, eyes bulging, too-short nails clawing pathetically at Shauna’s skin. Shauna loosens her hold and Mari takes a gasping breath, looking at Shauna with something that… doesn’t quite seem like fear.
