Summary
He was the most beautiful being Jannik had ever had the pleasure of knowing. More often than not he found himself staring at his profile, tracing the curve of his lips and the slope of his nose with guilty eyes, taking note of every single mole or change in texture. Carlos' eyes were a different matter altogether. A new shade of color Jannik had just discovered, a hazel he hadn't quite figured out yet since it was almost impossible to look him directly in the eyes. The hybrid had caught him in the process more than once, but his gaze always turned the other way in disinterest. The only positive to that was that he didn't see Jannik's face turn every shade of red imaginable.
Besides his —problematic— admiration for the hybrid, there was, and most importantly, a desire to help him. It never went unnoticed to him the longing looks directed at the kids playing outside, or when the older ones gathered round to play board games. Underneath the fake disinterest, Carlos longed for connection. For someone to understand him.
