Summary
Miles had learned the unofficial official list of rules at Mid-Wilshire surrounding Tim Bradford slower than he would like to admit, though once learned, they stuck.
So to say he was utterly terrified about bothering his TO in the middle of the night was an understatement. Really, he should just leave and camp the night out in his truck.
“Penn.” His TO’s sharp tone stopped him in his tracks, involuntarily wincing.
God, he was so screwed.
Or: Miles' car breaks down in the middle of the night and with a dead phone, he has no choice but to walk to his T.O.'s house.

Summary
“Look,” She sighs, “Bobby told us that Buck would prefer if what happened didn’t reach you, so that’s all you’ll get out of me. Sorry, Eddie.”
Eddie can feel a headache growing at the front of his brain. “Okay, thanks, Maddie, just,” he clears his throat, “just tell Buck that whatever it is, he can tell me, and that I’m here when he’s ready.”
She rolls her eyes; it’s ridiculous how sweet those two are on each other. She parks her car and gets out, “I will.”
“Uh, bye, thanks again.”
Buck being in the hospital is not unusual, especially with how accident-prone he can be, but lying and asking for Eddie to be kept in the dark? That’s a new one. And he’s not too fond of it.
- or
A fling before Eddie leaves for Texas leaves Buck unknowingly with child, well- unknowingly until he delivers on the floor of what used to be Eddie's bedroom. Buck convinces himself that Eddie can't know, and Eddie can't be fooled.

Summary
“Dad, promise you’ll be back for dinner?” Christopher’s words echoed in his ears.
“I’m short a man tonight,” Bobby continued, cutting through his thoughts. “Two, actually. One called in sick, the other’s stuck out of town. Ravi agreed to fill in for one.”
“I… I can’t, Cap. I’m sorry. I promised my kid I'd be at dinner tonight,” Eddie sighed, fighting the urge to check his watch again.
Bobby nodded, like he’d expected that response “I get it. Family first. But if you could—”
“Cap, please. It’s just… No,” Eddie cut in, pleading more than he meant. “I can't miss it. Not this year. Christopher is counting on me. He needs at least one parent tonight, and Buck’s not home yet.”
The words hung there, heavier than the chatter in the background. Bobby had known Eddie for over a year now —long enough to hear the stories, the mentions of Buck slipping into conversations like echoes. He had been Eddie's anchor, unseen but ever-present.
“Yeah,” Bobby sighed quietly. “I had to ask, I’m sorry.”
Eddie managed a half-smile. “I know. I’m sorry, too.”
or, a Christmas in the Buckley-Diaz household.
