The roads were paved with smooth stone, the promenades adorned with jade detailing. Within the Capital’s inner ring were the government offices, and even further inward housed the high-ranking members of court. There was too much grandeur that it bordered on excess, for everywhere you looked, something gleamed or shimmered.

    Its beating heart, the Imperial Palace, lay within this vast city, standing aloof in gilded glory.
