He rolled his shoulders, the starched white coat stiff against his firefighter's muscles. Across the sterile ER mockup in Station 118's training room, Buck leaned against a gurney, helmet dangling from his fingers. The fluorescent lights caught the sweat on Buck’s temple, tracing the line of his jaw as he grinned. "Ready to save me, Doc?"

"What?" - he almost squeals at the question.
"Do you want to cuddle me or to be cuddled?" - Eddie lifts his eyebrows, hands still on his hips looking at Buck like it's a normal thing they do.

All this time, the team had thought this incident had triggered him, but really it took an equal if not a larger toll on Buck.
And Eddie couldn't even gather the courage to comfort him. Does that make him selfish? Not being able to comfort the only person he can focus on, the only one he cares about. There's something stopping from reaching out, maybe his subconscious, maybe a part of him doesn't want to – he does, maybe the hurt is too much.
