If you asked Nat how she’d found herself in this position, a pleasant sort of ache settled deep in her bones and the feeling of complete contentedness seeping throughout her veins, she’d tell you she hadn’t the faintest fucking idea. Not a born liar, she’d give some flimsy response - drugs, alcohol, the ambiance - anything to bail herself out. Then, if asked to drudge up the truth, Nat would explain it as relative, as not holding weight in the now the way it had in the then. The truth would be less harsh, yet eons more unforgiving.
