Summary
“You’re the guy from the bus stop…” Seungmin’s hesitant voice was enough to snap Hyunjin out of his thoughts. Immediately, heat crept up his neck and he was most definitely blushing because oh gosh this was real.
Hyunjin had the words on the tip of his tongue but the moment he saw Seungmin every thought fizzled out and his mouth forgot how to function and oh no Seungmin was staring at him all confused. In the end, Hyunjin gave up on words and pulled out the little pouch in his pocket to shyly present to Seungmin.
Seungmin took it, thankfully, and Hyunjin watched him expectantly while hiding behind the curtain of his bangs. But when Seungmin continued to look lost at the sight of the ring, Hyunjin figured that maybe he hadn’t followed the custom properly.
“Is this…a ring?”
“Well,” Hyunjin cleared his throat awkwardly. “I did some research and um…” He finally gathered up the courage to look up, cheeks flushed and heart beating fast.
“I thought we should get married in human customs too.”
One beat.
Two beats.
“...what?”

for some reason, that comment gets to seungmin more than anything has before. “what– we aren’t boyfriends, jeongin! we aren’t dating! we’re just best friends, it’s not gonna happen!” seungmin bursts, stumbling over his words, face and ears positively burning.

seungmin, despite what everyone in his friend group thinks, doesn’t have a crush on hyunjin. he loves him the same amount as anyone else would love their best friend. he’s sure of it.

Summary
There’s a safe house near Itaewon that Seungmin frequents. He swings by at precisely 3:20 PM, but only on weekdays.
Further up the block is a playground. At 3:13 PM, a yellow school bus rolls past and comes to a stop.
Seungmin parks kitty-corner in his usual spot beside an electrical pole. The angle gives him an unobstructed view of the moment when the doors swing open and a familiar school teacher steps out onto the sidewalk.
Seungmin doesn’t know his name, just that everyone calls him Hwang-ssaem, and that he is the most beautiful man Seungmin has ever seen in his life.
The whole process of unloading the students takes about seven minutes.
So for seven minutes, Seungmin pretends. He pretends that he is the kind of man who can have beautiful things.
