Summary
Kageyama Tobio is a professional racing driver, the new rookie sensation who's about to take home the Piston Cup in his first year.
But a race run recklessly leads to an unprecedented three-way tie, and a tie breaker race is set for a week's time. On the way to the International Speedway, Kageyama gets lost, and ends up crashing into Karasuno Springs - a small country town in the middle of nowhere, ruining their main road in the process. Forced to stay and fix it, Kageyama feels the whole thing is a waste of time, until he meets the town's handyman - Hinata Shouyou, a local dirt track racer.
They're very different, but a shared passion for racing draws Kageyama in, as he tries to work out why Hinata is just a handyman in the first place despite his talent for racing. And over the course of the week he ends up discovering that maybe there's more to life than winning races all by himself.
(A racing AU; based on the story of Pixar's Cars, but everybody is human.)

Summary
' "You want what you always want, don't you? You want volleyball," Hinata says. "I'm—I understand that better than anyone, Kageyama. I really wish I could feel that way, too, but I get it—"
"Of course I want volleyball!" Kageyama says. "I'll always want volleyball, that's never going to change! But two years ago, it's all I had! It's all I cared about, because I didn't have anything else."
Of course he loves volleyball more than anything else. But more than anyone else? He's not stupid. Hinata isn't a thing, a sport, a concept.
Hinata is the most important focus Kageyama's ever had in his life.
"But now I have you!" he yells, furious.'
--
Kageyama has gotten much better at understanding Hinata, but he's still working out just how much Hinata cares about him.

Summary
In where Hinata is constantly overwhelmed by the metallic blue in Kageyama's eyes and Kageyama can only click his tongue at Hinata's inability to be subtle (while blushing rouge but that has nothing to do with Hinata, not at all).
(alternatively, Hinata is a new student in America and their ethnicity is the only thing they have in common).

Summary
“You think I’m insanely good.” Hinata says in a sing-song voice and barely swallows his laughter when Kageyama’s face pinches irritably like he’s just bitten into something unbearably sour. It’s by far the tamest compliment Kageyama’s directed at him between the end of their match and now, but Hinata has had tragically little time to get on with some dearly missed teasing. He glides his nose against Kageyama’s cheek placatively, smile never wavering as he whispers, “You want to set to me again.”
He says it lightly, teasingly but he knows his eyes must betray his seriousness, his eagerness to have it confirmed when neither of them is high off the adrenaline of a demanding match.
(or: the morning after the JackAdlers match wherein heartfelt conversations are had)
