Ainosuke is beautiful. Kaoru knows this, and though he cannot see the details of Ainosuke’s face, he knows that Ainosuke is glorious like this. He fell for Ainosuke before Ainosuke let his face be shown, after all; the mysterious hooded boy who showed up out of nowhere to take Kaoru’s heart for his own. Kaoru knew he was beautiful then, and he knows Ainosuke is beautiful now, panting fervently beside Kaoru’s ear.

“May I?”
It’s proper etiquette to ask permission to touch another person’s instrument, but Kaoru doesn’t care about that. It’s the consideration Ainosuke displays, his cultivated manners, that makes Kaoru respond by uncovering the keys for Ainosuke’s use.
“I should have known you played,” Ainosuke says as he positions the bench to accommodate his long legs. He takes Kaoru’s left hand in his right and brings it to his lips—Kaoru’s face is on fire—and purrs against the knuckles: “You have piano fingers.”
in which ainosuke plays the piano well, kaoru plays a little less well, and this is how their duet changes over the years
