Goofy hat, tall socks. A bow around his neck that Eddie has a brief flash of what it might be like to yank on. Just a little.

Summary
Eddie has produced a beat-up looking notebook from somewhere and is writing on it. Just a few seconds later, he has it held up towards Steve with a grin.
Best meal of my life, it says.
Steve rolls his eyes. This is ridiculous. They are in the middle of an apocalypse and this guy, he is… He is dispersing the black clouds around Steve’s head.
Steve gestures for the notebook. Eddie hands it to him with the pen.
I’d kill for a pizza and a beer right now.
He shows it to Eddie, who just nods like he has just read the wisest words of his life.
“Pepperoni?” Eddie asks without sound.
“Sausage,” Steve answers.
Eddie pauses a couple of seconds with a pout and his eyebrows raised before he nods again, approving Steve’s choice.or, two boys find each other in a city full of chaos and creatures that will hurt anything that makes a sound and decide to survive together

Summary
Dustin is contentedly sitting on the counter at family video waiting for Steve to finish his shift. He’s steadily making his way through a packet of red vines and complaining about the last terrible movie Mike made him watch when Eddie comes barrelling in. The first abnormal thing Dustin notices is that Eddie barely gives him more than a wave of acknowledgment, clearly a man on a mission. And Dustin doesn’t even have time to be offended before Eddie starts his tirade. Rude.

“Does your new special drink menu include an IV directly into my bloodstream by any chance?” Eddie asks as Steve turns the corner.
“If it did, we’d both be hooked up to drips by now,” Steve says, loading the coffee pot onto the warming stand and loading the small fridge beneath the counter with cartons of milk and cream. “I see you before I see the sun most days.”
“Is that a bad thing?” Eddie bends over the counter and Steve looks up, nearly colliding with Eddie’s chin.
Wild curls, warm eyes, toothy grin, minty toothpaste, woodsy cologne.
It’s enough to catch his breath, to weaken his knees, and he really can’t keep being stunned like this unless he plans on doing something very, very stupid.
Or, Steve's favorite customer at the coffee shop hosts a local early morning radio show. Between coffee and some of their favorite music, they might just fall in love.
