Summary
Viktor had always been an atheist. It wasn’t that he despised organized religion or even thought it was wrong for other people to believe in it, he just never got the appeal. Why believe in a god who would let the world suffer so much? He also knew far too much about science to believe in a higher power. Once you know enough about how the universe works, down to the quantum level, it doesn’t leave a whole lot of room for a god.
As a result of his chronic atheism, he had never payed much mind to the door to door bible salesmen who darkened his doorstep on occasion. He would be kind, pleasant even, when they arrived, but he would turn them all down just the same.
That is, until today.
