    "Grace isn't an idiot. He knows Driver's past is muddy. He knows Driver can look after himself and has surely done terrible things to do it. Was probably taught terrible things from a very young age, while Grace's parents were teaching him how to build sand castles and swim.
    But it's just a weekend. And Grace had asked once, weeks ago, if he still has to worry about the sorts of things Driver gets involved with, and Driver had told him no.
    And Grace believed him.
    Clearly, that was his first mistake."

    While Grace goes away for the weekend with Colt and Jody, Driver falls back into old habits. Grace is furious when he gets back — but failed to account for exactly how afraid Driver would be in the face of an angry man.
    Or, as I put on Tumblr, "thinking about how Grace gets loud and aggressive and destructive when he's angry, and Driver was raised in an abusive, violent home."
