Summary
Everybody knew that psychics and palm readers and fortune tellers were really all just cons: reading people’s subtle cues and making pronouncements just vague enough that people would believe they were real. Kent Parson wasn’t going to believe anything the tarot reader said when he finally gave in to the impulse to see what so many other people fell for. He wasn’t.
He could never have guessed what would be in the cards: either in his reading, or in the hand that life would deal him afterwards.
