“You make another noise, I’ll stop, I swear I will.” Eddie warned him. Or tried to anyway, but his voice was low and deep and slightly scratchy in the quiet of the room, and it was doing nothing for Steve’s mental state.
Eddie was just about to start again, when there was a noise in the hallway. It was barely anything, Steve could barely even hear it over the music still coming out of his record player, but they both froze. Eddie stared at him, eyes bright in the darkness of the room, as they both waited, listening.
“Old house.” Steve dared to whisper after a moment. “Probably settling, it makes weird noises all the time.”
“I don’t think-”
“Steve, honey are you on the phone in there?”
“Motherfucker.”
