Summary
Courier recognizes the shape of his shoulders before she recognizes his face, which is completely understandable. She's still getting used to him looking at her with an ordinary man's face instead of sharp blue eyes through bandages, but she's seen those shoulders plenty of times before. Actually, if he was turned around, she'd probably know him from his ass. She's looked at his ass plenty of times. The man looks good in a pair of jeans. He still looks good in them, since that's what he's wearing now, but she can't see his ass when he's facing her way.
"It's you!" she says to Joshua as he's dragged in and dropped in a chair.
The once-Legionaries-now-whatever-this-band-of-idiots-is-calling-themselves pauses. "You know the Malpais Legate?"
"Joshua," She corrects him. "He's Joshua now."

Summary
"They can do all kinds of stuff in Big MT. I'll be honest, the people are weird. But they're brilliant. They're old world scientists. You probably won't get along with them, so we'll just avoid having you talk with them, and you can talk to the machine instead. The Auto-Doc's the guy we're going to see. He can do anything" And she carefully avoids actually touching Joshua as she nudges his shirt slightly. "Probably even help you."
She waits for a response. It's a long time coming. Joshua isn't ignoring her, and she can see that when she looks at him. He's clearly thinking about it, very, very deeply. She understands. Courier's promising him the impossible - and it might still be impossible. Auto-Doc seemed convinced he could help but he hasn't seen Joshua yet. Hell, Courier hasn't either. She just knows the story, and she knows how carefully he holds himself, aware that any point of contact between himself and the world is a painful one.
Finally, Joshua speaks. "How many days is the journey?"

This is not how ordinary people function. But Courier hasn't been ordinary since Benny put a round in her skull and buried her under three inches of topsoil (didn't even bury her all the way down, lazy bastard). Some switch deep in her head got flipped from OFF to ON, or from NO to YES. And so that one who used to live in this body died and this one who came from the dark woke up and now she's the kind of woman who can't tell you where she's from but can carry five hundred radioactive rockets in her bags everywhere she goes without breaking a sweat.
(“I really love your creative way of looking at things! We could be carrying weapons or ammunition or something like that, but I like that you're using that space to carry around rockets instead! It's so very you!" Yes Man says in his cheerful passive-aggressive way.
"You never know when you're going to need a large quantity of toy rockets for bartering purposes! Sooner or later, we'll find the right stop and make ourselves millionaires." She replies back, just as cheerful, just as passive-aggressive.)

The Lucky 38 is hers, now that she's gone and brained Mr. House with a golf club and installed Yes Man on the mainframe. She sometimes almost feels a little bad for the old bastard. He made it hundreds of years, only to face her down and die at her hands. But hey. Maybe he would take some consolation in knowing that her hands also helped kill Caesar, which isn't too shabby at all for a woman who can't remember her name or anything older than three months ago.
