    Summary

And there they were, a couple hundred feet below the surface of the Pacific Ocean, surrounded in a comical bubble of air, breathlessly staring at each other.
She looked at him, soaking in his appearance, reconciling it with the boy she used to know. He had the same messy blonde curls and awkward height. He was tanner, and just bigger, like the rest of his body had finally caught up with his height. His arms were more muscular– all of him was more muscular, God– and he had a tattoo brandished on his bicep, peeking out underneath his armor.
She sighed, silently to herself, as her heart tried to regulate itself. He looked like Percy.
Without thinking, she attacked. She had dropped her dagger, but she still had her fists and the element of surprise. She punched him, again in the gut and then judo flipped him, pulling her body weight fully on top of him.
She breathed, her face an inch away from his.
“Who are you?” she spat out angrily.
“Good to see you too, Wise girl,” was all he said, grinning up at her.

    ~

After almost two and a half years of searching, Annabeth finally finds Percy– except he is nothing like how she remembers.

    Summary

Annabeth understood this the way she understood load-bearing walls and weight distribution. The enmity was structural. It held things up. You did not remove it without understanding what it was holding.

She was twelve years old, and she understood it perfectly, and she was certain she would never have cause to think about it differently.

    Then a boy arrived.

He was blonde and blue-eyed and looked like he had lost a fight with a lawnmower, and he was unconscious, and he smelled, unmistakably and impossibly, of the deep ocean.

Annabeth stood in the doorway of the infirmary and looked at him for a long moment. Something in her went very still in the way that things go still right before something large and irreversible happens — the held breath before the earthquake, the instant of silence before a wave breaks.

She did not name the feeling. She was twelve. She was the pride of her mother. She was going to be great.

    She turned and walked away.

It would not be the last time she would try.

    Summary

Percy is not looking for anything romantic after his last disaster of a relationship. He'd rather stay away from girls entirely for a while. The only reason he agrees to let the new girl move in is to get his other roommates off his back. And only after everyone agrees - no inter-roommate dating.

Annabeth is desperate to move anywhere that keeps her in New York City - and the only place she can find is with her childhood friend Grover and his three roommates. She can stomach living with four guys if it means not having to move back home or back in with her ex.

    And now... they're Roommates.

He clears his throat. Annabeth’s face burns as she realizes she’s been ogling him for likely an entire minute. She lets out a squeak before she turns around, gluing her eyes back to the photos on his wall. Something safe to look at.
“You’re allowed to look,” he says. He sounds amused, like he’s teasing her.
“No, I’m pretty sure I’m not.” Her voice is an octave higher than usual. He lets out a laugh. She does not let her gaze stray from the wall.
