Summary
Katsuki comes home. He visits his friends and he goes about his day as close to normal as he possibly can. It's not the emptiness of the town, it's also not the change happening all around him, which causes the nausea to settle in. Perhaps he can blame the sudden news springing up all around him. Ultimately, he might be the only thing left untouched by reality.
He still sees the exact second Kirishima’s eyebrows turn down and his face goes from a happy smile into a frown. Despite his attempts at avoiding eye contact, Katsuki finds himself glancing at Kirishima’s face and getting lost in familiar eyes. They’re as warm and welcoming as he remembers them being but they seem tired — wiser — compared to when they were in high school.
“Man, we all missed you! You were gone for four years and you never messaged any of us. Not once! I was so offended, dude, I thought we were friends.”
The hold Kirishima’s eyes had on Katsuki loosens, it allows Katsuki to look away momentarily. When he looks back Kirishima smiles again but it doesn’t look authentic and Katsuki hates it.
“I had more important things to do,” he grumbles.

“Yes,” James hissed, “and he’ll knock my teeth out if I kiss his little brother.”
“You can take a hit, Potter, I’ve seen you on the quidditch pitch,” Regulus waved him off, and James groaned, leaning away from him.
“Oh, yeah, great, so I’m the sacrifice,” he sighed.
“Precisely,” Regulus stepped right into his space, and James felt his chest go a little hot.
