    Summary

Sitting in the sunbeam, eyes closed and head angled skywards, was Jon. He leaned against the wall, one leg folded upright and the other extended before him. Wrapped in a green cardigan, hem of his black T-shirt peeking out from under the collar, he looked wholly separate from the person he’d tried so hard to present himself as when he and Martin had first met. His hair was loose, and longer, a mess of tangled dark curls falling around his shoulders and chest with flyaway strands lit orange-brown by the syrupy light. The silver touching his temples and threading outwards glowed white gold.

Jon looked– not happy, not even content, really, but calm. The furrow between his brows that Martin sometimes worried was permanent had eased, giving him the appearance of someone younger. He still looked tired and older than he was, but less like he was carrying an invisible weight so large he’d forgotten it was there.
