Regret ate away at his senses, and Rocket found himself standing still as rain collected on his hair, his face; like a deer in headlights. He stared at the villain. His goggles, his yellow bandana. Bazooka’s chest rose up. Then down.
He’d just healed a supervillain.

From past experience, he knew he could just leave the body here, where the snow would cover it up. If he was lucky, it’ll stay hidden until the spring, when the last traces of winter melt as warmth once again permeates the plateau. By that time, he’d have finished everything he needed to do here, and be long gone with his mother in tow. Or he would have, if he hadn’t found himself staring at the silhouette of a tall man, made even taller by his top hat, observing silently from the shadow of a large fir tree.
