“Well don’t you clean up nice Kiryu-chan!” Goromi waves from across the road, her heels clicking against the asphalt. She’s in her favorite dress, all flirty pink snakeskin even in the chill air of Christmas morning, some inhuman ability to shrug off the cold.“I figured I should dress up a little.” Kiryu adjusts his collar—it’s not much outside of his usual look, but he’s buttoned everything up and put on a tie, a rich red one that he'd gotten as a birthday present from Majima and then gotten strangled with it by Majima.
“Well ya figured right,” Goromi sniffs, “ya gotta make up for that flaccid excuse for a Christmas last year.”
“We were both pretty busy.” Kiryu offers his arm and she hooks around his elbow, slotting their bodies together as they walk, a warm line building against her cool skin.
“Yeah yeah, ‘s what I get for signin’ up with a single dad.” She complains, but there’s fondness behind it. “Where we goin’ anyways?”
“It’s a surprise.”

Summary
Instead of obediently re-joining the Tojo at Kiryu's behest, Majima stays out of the yakuza and keeps running Majima Construction. Somehow, two years later, he ends up in Okinawa, living out of Kiryu's tiny bedroom and wrangling nine kids who don't trust him.
