But he does.
And it is curious, when Klavier leads Apollo away from the altar by the hand, whisking him away to their room for the evening—Klavier holds his body almost protectively in front of Apollo, as though to shield him from all the onlookers. And his steps are quick, measured, purposeful, as though to whisk Apollo away before the gossip spills fresh off everyone’s lips.
He hears it anyway, of course. “Imagine a child between them—what a blessing indeed!”
More like a death sentence if they fail.
