Summary
"What was is that you wrote down, Rengoku-san?" He presses, now, because he wants to, daring enough to feign a need for clarification rather than directly asking for the truth. And, with brushstrokes detailing his given name, it firmly, undeniably has nothing to do with the weather. Kyoujurou smells like he's nervous. Looks dismayed, caught in his dishonesty.
"Good weather," he mutters again, jaw tensing on the end of the lie.

Summary
“No, when you—when you smile like that,” Gi-hun says, shuddering. “It makes me miss him.”
“Who?” In-ho asks. He can’t help it, Gi-hun always piques his curiosity. “Jung-bae sshi? Sang-woo sshi?” He uses their real names for once. After hearing some of Gi-hun’s stories on the rare occasions he felt like sharing, In-ho can't help but use their names in place of their numbers. It makes In-ho feel like he knows them, too.
He's often thought about shooting Jung-bae with shaking hands, watching the hopelessness in his eyes as he turned to face Gi-hun. But what felt like pricks of guilt then, feels like sharp pains in his chest these days. He rolls around at night, and thinks, and feels. It’s a mystery why.
In-ho looks at Gi-hun sitting in front of him, the visceral reaction to Jung-bae’s name still strong as ever.
Is it really a mystery anymore? The influence of Seong Gi-hun and the thousand souls he carries with him is quite strong.
or: gi-hun and in-ho make it out alive, but gi-hun wants nothing to do with the latter. unfortunately, in-ho has other plans.

Fuck. I read this in one sitting and it felt like pushing my bleeding self into a fire. Excruciating but so very warm. I love the writing in this very much, the fucked up relationship very much, the ending very much. It hurt. But god, if it's not like. Ugh. So so so. So good

Summary
"He thought about Gi-hun, who was probably dead by now. After all, the world ate goodness. Consumed it like an animal eats raw meat, feeds on it and tears it up and destroys it. Who would know that better than In-ho? His wife, Gi-hun, these people were the type that the world swallowed whole.
And empty, rotten people like Hwang In-ho? Well, he'd probably live forever."
Hwang In-ho encounters Seong Gi-hun more than once, and each time, Gi-hun wedges himself deeper inside his mind. In-ho has been devoid of personhood for years, since his wife's death, but hope is a powerful thing. So, too, is love.

Lovely, lovely characterization. This feels exactly how a no sg au would work out between them <3 I love love the ending too, something similar really should've been the outcome of the show as the culmination of their ideological clash

“Excuse me Sir, can I sit here?”

The sound of his voice feels like the only tangible thing Gi-hun can hold onto. Nothing else feels quite real.

PEAK fanfic holy shit. Deliciously dark, madly obsessive, and perfectly written. Incredible. I particularly like the promising honesty over truth theme in this. The imagery is also just sooo so good. I also liked it when Gi-hun would say shit in the narration like:
Definitely angry, some version of it. It’s caustic in his stomach, furious and boiling like acid. It would be easy to mistake it for heat.
Like holy fuck!
