But not for a wedding, and the amount of ceremony surrounding her Aunt Velora’s has been enough to break even a daughter of Whitestone’s patience for etiquette and propriety. The whole spectacle - which fabric sleeve conveyed which blessing and what stance is most propitious for maidens versus matrons - would be hilarious if she wasn’t also so tragically roped into it.

It did anyway, calling to mind his own navy-and-gold ensemble, causing his heart to leap briefly to the base of his throat before he stuffed it back down. He picked up one of the necklaces—the golden one, with a blue star—and held it out to her.
