Chan had always believed that love suited people, and on Vernon, it rested well.
“If I disappeared, could you find me hyung? Would you even look?”
A cold look glossed over Vernon and he lost a touch of gentleness and Chan froze for a second. This was the Vernon who emerged from the depths of the sea, a boy moulded by ice and storms. Vernon placed a harsh hand on his shoulder, pulling Chan impossibly closer. Fresh snow and salted waves.
Silver met brown in a clash. “I’ll always find you.”
It sounded more like a threat than a promise. Chan moved his own hand, raising it in a slow arc and placed it on Vernon’s hair. His nails burrowed into his scalp but Vernon didn’t flinch as his black locks were pulled. The roots of his hair glimmered when Chan tightened his grip.
Chan spoke his own threat, “You can’t run away. I’ll chase you hyung.”
Vernon's lashes quivered under Chan's gaze.
The sea could not claim Vernon. From the moment he had saved Chan from the pulling waves, the boy was his.
