Summary
Wei Wuxian is a servant of Lotus Hold, in the Ninth House, the smallest and most backwater planet of the Nine Houses. His life is pretty bleak (largely due to the Reverend Mother Lady Yu), although he usually keeps up his cheerful disposition. Then he meets Lan Wangji, and eventually, his life gets a lot better. But before it gets better, there will be an unimpressed Lan Qiren, homoerotic dueling, mutual pining, a really gross monster, clandestine vows, and skeletons — so many skeletons, both the kind made out of bones and the kind made out of secrets.

His gaze bored into Wei Wuxian's soul (metaphorically, but it felt surprisingly similar to the one time he had accidentally undergone soul siphoning), and then Lan Wangji clenched his right hand into a fist and pressed it to his chest.
