“This is a private Navy research space, you shouldn’t be here,” Phoenix said over the radio. “Identify yourself.”
Silence. The other jet continued to keep pace with Phoenix and Bob. It was difficult to see into the window, and what they could see of the other pilot was obscured by the heavy gear and helmet they had on.

"Jeez, this lighting is ass. I feel like I'm back at camp, telling stories in the dark," he said, hoping to get some sort of conversation started. He glanced over at Bob from the corner of his eye. The WSO was staring off at some point in the distance, picking absently at a loose thread on the couch next to him.
"What are you thinking about?" Hangman asked, his tone softer, more genuine this time. He really was curious; it was less some cheap attempt to break the silence, more about figuring out the mystery of the quiet WSO.
"Nothin', just...I wasn't supposed to be here."
