This never should have had to be a fill-in fic coda, this is what canon should be doing. Even if we don't get the canon verification of romance, the kissing on screen. Dean and Cas communicating, the mutuality of their need to watch over each other, to buffer at least some of the pain, to heal or give each other what they need to heal. Read this.
