Summary
“You’re hurt,” Laios said, simply, like you might point out someone’s shoe was unlaced.
What? He looked down, expecting to see blood or broken skin. All he saw was Laios kneeling before him, hands on his thighs.
“I see it. Plain as day. You’re walking around, bleeding out, pretending like you aren’t. It makes me sad,”
Kabru swallowed, trying to understand what he meant. Sometimes it felt like a riddle, overly cryptic and beautifully simplistic.
“You’re bearing your teeth, hoping we won’t notice. Hoping that if you’re scary enough, the thing that’s trying to eat you will back off,”

Summary
His tunic, now hanging open, slid down one shoulder with very little persuasion from Kabru’s hand. The fabric stopped right before his chest was exposed. He touched it through the fabric, watching Laios closely.
“Do you want a taste?”
Laios nodded.
He slipped the tunic down his other shoulder.
“That’s too bad. Only good boys who get their work done get to eat.”

Kabru hummed, idly petting Laios’ head.
“I suppose outside would be nice. Somewhere secluded, of course,”
If Kabru were anything, an exhibitionist, he was not.
“Maybe at your desk,” he said, pretending that he didn’t already have several scenarios with that particular piece of furniture plaguing his mind.
“Oh,” Laios said, surprised by that answer.
“What appeals to you about my desk?” he asked, tracing the inside of Kabru’s thigh. He grabbed his finger gently to stop it. He was ticklish there, and Laios always forgot.

When Kabru’s curiosity began to morph into his own fantasies, he knew that there was no turning back. His night would end as his day began. Barely satiated, wondering how many precious minutes he would waste in bed before he could finally be clear headed enough to do his job- his job that he loved.

Summary
That day, Kabru made a vow not to lie to Laios again if he could help it. Not only was it not necessary to lie to him, it only seemed to make things worse. Even his truthful statements would be doubted at first. He had to live with the consequences of that anyway, but being honest with Laios came easily. Too easily. He would let his guard down and say things like this, out of the blue, surprising even himself. He vowed not to lie, but was he lying about his feelings by never mentioning them until now, if he wasn't even aware of them? The price of understanding everyone else's feelings and motivations was that he never quite seemed to be in tune with his own. Just then, he put into words the feeling he had been experiencing for a long time, and it was as much of a surprise to him as it was to Laios.
