And maybe it’s because Reno is exhausted. Maybe it’s because No. 6 is still thrumming in his veins. Maybe it’s because his body is moving faster than his mind. Or maybe it’s just the fact that they’re alive, they’re alive and breathing and the next day could spell their last that makes Reno continue to close the gap between them.
Maybe it’s also the fact that he’s wanted to kiss Iharu since they got to the fourth division.

"There's no time," Reno says quietly, and then his hand is on the doorknob.
And if he hadn't said it, maybe Iharu would have stayed in place. Maybe he would have waited until Reno was down the hall, grabbed a pillow, and shouted himself hoarse into it. Maybe he would have taken a deep breath and a moment to sort through what, exactly, was pissing him off so badly and why it all came back to Reno.
But there's no time.
So before Reno can turn the knob, Iharu lunges. He grabs his wrist with one hand, his shoulder with the other, and crowds Reno back against the door. His mouth is on Reno's before he can think better of it, and once it's there, he's not thinking at all.
