Summary
Leonie Pinelli is a commoner, poor, practical, and completely lacking in romance. If her feet were any more firmly on the ground, she’d be in it. Like a potato.
Lorenz Hellman Gloucester is noble, rich, morally upright, and overly uptight. If he gets any more tightly wound, he’s going to pull something.
“I peeked in on Marianne’s dance lessons. You will die,” Leonie said with relish. Lorenz turned red. She had the urge to poke his cheek but restrained herself.
“Why do you torment me?”
“I’m just trying to give you a heads-up. Like a good friend.”
“Pegasus blessings,” Lorenz muttered. Nice.
“Lorenz, such language,” she gasped.
“Please allow me to extend my sincerest apologies, Miss Pinelli,” he said dryly. “I was overcome.”
An unexpected friendship becomes rather something more through bad haircuts, shared food, and a continent-spanning war. OR: two dunderheads grow up, experience Emotions, and eventually get a clue.
