The point is, they'd better not. It wouldn't work. And when Jaskier tries something, because he's definitely going to, it'll be up to Geralt to make the right decision and save them both the trouble.
Better that things should go on as they are. Better than sating Jaskier's whims and having it all fall apart after.
This once, perhaps, there's a lesser evil after all. And Geralt will choose it and gladly.
(Or: Jaskier starts hitting on Geralt all the time. Geralt ignores it, because that's obviously the only reasonable thing to do. Except, sooner or later, he isn't going to be able to anymore.)

The ending is literally "no homo" but goddamn, if it wasn't a thrilling and immersive ride getting there. If you finish watching Strike Back and need something to ween you off of the high adrenaline love fest that is that show, this is it.
*addendum*
A month after finishing this, I'm still reeling from the injustice of the ending. I still recommend this series, as it's extremely in depth and features great world building, character development, astounding action, and a compelling storyline. With that being said, there's duplicity involved that the reader can't be aware that they're being subjected to until the third installment of the series. Things are not what they seem, and the realization is abrupt and leaves you feeling cheated. If you go into this prepared for that, it won't be such a big blow. Like I said, I still recommend this because everything BESIDES the handling of that particular aspect is superb and absolutely worth the read. Just guard your heart. -
