Summary
Sam’s known many fathers, had many friends who have had fathers, and he knows what the word means. But every time he sees the Father’s Day sale poster at their local grocery store, pasted right next to the isles filled with screwdrivers and iron nails, he feels like the word is born right in front of his eyes. Conceived and delivered at that very moment, as if the term hadn’t existed before then.
[Sam has a lot to think about on a quiet Sunday morning.]

It warmed him to see her eyes glow with unshed tears, but he couldn’t forget the steady curve of her palm as she drove the blade through him.

Summary
He’d speak his wishes out loud because some kid at the church had said that it was easier for God to hear if our thoughts were laid out. Spoken.
[In which, Sam prays. The devil is out, and Sam's pretty sure that prayers won't help much anymore.]

Summary
There exists an ordinary looking car. Sometimes, there is blood in it that will disappear in the morning. Sometimes, you can see the ghost of a woman in white, a face so long forgotten yet so familiar. Sometimes, you will talk to this car even though you are alone. Sometimes, you will hear the hiss of the radio and wonder if you are alone. There exists a car. But it's not ordinary.

Summary
Steve waits, and in that one moment he can feel a thousand futures, an infinity of what could happen if Tony surrenders, if he admits he’s wrong.
(Or how Civil War could have ended)

Summary
Dean had entered the motel room with Sammy's hand in his, a duffel bag on his shoulder. Routine. But John grabbed his empty palm, rough hands swatting him and Sam behind him as he jutted into the room with a gun at ready. It wasn't very unusual, nothing to do with guns was unusual to Dean. But it was John's desperation, the way he slid on quietly.
(In which, Dean's a perceptive child, but he only understands one of his father's fear when he's twenty-six and seeing the same fear rise in his brother's eyes.)

Summary
“Do you still think Tony is out there?” Natasha had asked him a month after the Decimation. The whole world was sure he was gone. The media was sure that Tony’s disappearance was directly related to the calamity. Some even blamed Tony for it. But the common belief every group held was that Anthony Edward Stark was dead. Natasha’s eyes were always guarded when she asked him, a façade of faith etched so deep into her voice that sometimes Steve could almost believe that she thought he was alive too. But she didn’t. Not until now.
(The aftermath of the Decimation has taken its toll on Steve. But Tony's still alive and Steve will bring him home.)
This work was written before Avengers: Endgame came out so it's canon divergent and based off off scenes in the trailer.
