“- cares, man?” Stewy’s voice lifts from the inside of the breakroom. “When was the last time you went out to Myrnas?”
Greg hesitates before he turns into the room, peeking against the jamb.
“I think you probably were there,” Tom says, his back to the door while poking through one of a couple bakery trays.
Greg furrows his brow and drops a step back into the hall. He glances around, feeling a prickle at the side of his head, and pulls his phone out when he catches someone looking at him from the printer.
“So nut up and come out tonight,” Stewy says, scoffing from his nose through the outright demand. “You’ve signed and got that divorce cred; you can do whatever now.”

Summary
Greg inhales a deep, hopefully silent breath, then swallows hard, cursing Tom’s pre-neymoon, or whatever he called it, leaving Greg to like get blamed for the boat suddenly getting robbed. He reaches up and grabs around steps into the upper level, peeking up, only to stare at a familiar pair of shoulders hunched at the back near the hold and winding repair knots into a crab pot.
“Tom?” Greg says, faintly, blinking hard and feeling the tension drop to his toes.
“I said you had to fix this,” Tom says, without looking up and yanking another knot into the net.
Greg drops his eyes to the pot, then glances to the three others he’s let sit for the past couple days. “Oh?” He tries, lifting his voice into a question. “You did?”
Tom raises his eyes with a look that contains very little humor, so that’s… great. The pre-neymoon did not go well, clear enough.

Summary
Maybe it was just Tom being Tom, trying to freak Greg out, trying to razz him. This is the exact fucking problem. Greg shouldn’t let all of this wash over him as easily as he does. He shouldn’t lean into it and go ‘Welp, that’s just Tom’. And he definitely shouldn’t enjoy the way Tom calls him Sporus, because ultimately it’s most likely all fucking meaningless. All of it, surely, is meaningless. Just a hollow joke Tom repeatedly returns to because he’s insane and makes no sense.
