Summary
Two months after their first hunt, Ghost invites Soap to spend three weeks at his cabin in the Highlands. No running this time, just... time. But when Price announces that Roach—Ghost's former partner who knew him before the mask—is joining the team, Ghost starts to spiral. Soap finds himself jealous of a man he's never met, questioning what he and Ghost even are to each other.
Over the course of three weeks that span Christmas and New Year's, they'll have to navigate jealousy, define their relationship, decide whether to tell Price and Gaz, and figure out if Ghost can finally trust someone enough to show them his face. It's messy and complicated and neither of them knows the rules, but maybe that's okay.

Summary
“You know why," Ghost said quietly.
And Soap did. Had known since that first morning on the trails. Had felt it building between them for months—this dark pull, this inevitability.
When Ghost gives him coordinates to meet alone in the woods on Halloween night, Soap has one choice to make: walk away from whatever this is, or run headfirst into the darkness and see what's waiting for him there.
He chooses to run.

Summary
If one asked any of the former clans of the North, the story of King MacTavish and the North Star, they might say that the sorcerer fell into a trap laid by clever King MacTavish. That he bound the White Wolf’s wrists and feet and put him in a collar of cold iron to suppress his magic, brought him to his stronghold and tortured him into obedience. Others might say that the White Wolf came of his own accord.
Others, those who look over their shoulders and know they speak of treason, might hint that it was North Star who found the King first, that he lured King MacTavish into his lair and put him under a spell, seduced him and made the King fall in love with him, to whatever end he might have.
Still others claim that their union was ordained by the gods, that they gave the King a vision when he was a boy, tied the red string of fate to both their hands, and that it is a blessing indeed, to unite magic and might under one banner and keep their people safe.
Naturally, none of these stories are true.

Summary
“We don’t eat children,” Ghost finally mutters, because it’s annoying him, and his shoulders ache, and he can’t believe that rumor actually got any traction. Why would dragons eat children? They’re hardly more than a mouthful.
To his surprise, Soap laughs. “I ken,” he replies, grinning when Ghost turns to look at him. “And ye don’t keep virgins for a hundred years to ripen ‘em up, and ya don’t even hoard all that badly. I’m no’ daft.”
“Could’a fooled me,” Ghost mutters.
“Ye attacked me in the dead of night when I was asleep, used yer fuckin’ dark magic on me,” Soap snaps. “In a fair fight I’da won.”
Ghost snorts again, ashy and hot behind his mask. “Unlikely.”
“Take off these bonds and we’ll see then, eh?”

Summary
"I'll be moving on soon. The problem I was here for is dealt with. As my best customer I figured you should know."
A confusing mix of emotions rises in Soap at that, muddies his thoughts like disturbed silt. His nostrils flare as he snorts, lowering his muzzle so the knight cannot see the unhappy twist of his wide mouth. His ears press back. He'll admit keeping himself fed has been a lot easier with the knight's semi-weekly delivery; he hasn't had to hunt, lure, or trick for his meals in ages. But Soap has lived for many, many long years, and knows he will not go hungry.
He's…sad, he realizes. Upset that he will no longer be able to catch a glimpse of this knight, with his golden hair and masked face. He's grown accustomed to it, dare he say looks forward to their routine, even though the knight has only ever spoken to him the last time he was here.
