Summary
“I have decided to take a new wife,” the King paused, as if making sure everyone was listening. He glanced at Rhaenyra. She nodded at him, smiling sadly.
“I intend to marry,” he looked toward Alicent, as did Rhaenyra. Her gaze shook Alicent, the feelings of realization so apparent. It made Alicent feel even guiltier.
“The Lady Alicent Hightower, before spring's end.” Corlys Velaryon stood up from his chair. His hands are used to steady himself. Alicent looked down at her fingers. She had been picking at them as of late.
“This is an absurdity. My house is Velaryon, the greatest power in the realm.”
“And I am your King.” The two men held an uncomfortable gaze as the room filled with their tension. Alicent still felt Rheanyra’s eyes burning into me. I bit my bottom lip not to make a sound. Lord Velaryon looked at Otto Hightower as a threat. But, he just smiled at him. Satisfied at what he’d accomplished. Lord Velaryon walked out of the room furious. Alicent looked up again, her eyes meeting Rhaenyra’s.
“Rhaenyra-” Viserys started but Rhaenyra was already gone. Her footsteps echoing throughout the room.
