Flame turned his head to see a purple heap on the ground.
Wemmbu was face down on the mesa near Flames base, just laying there.

It was an easy fight, really.
Just some people wanting to kill Wemmbu for whatever reason. It was normal at this point.
Wemmbu elytra-maced his way through the small group of people, it was easy for the most part. A few got lucky hits on him, nothing more than a slight gash, though.
As he brought his mace down on another player, he saw him.
Manepear.

“I’m, uh- out of invis.” he replies quietly, placing his hand on the tree.
“Oh. Um,” Jaden pauses for a moment. “...Is it really that important to keep your identity hidden?”
Wemmbu doesn't respond. He clenches his hands into fists, his tail curling around his leg. If you know who I am, then I can't let you live.

A finger jabbed into his shoulder, insistent and trembling slightly.
Egg's eye snapped open to the sight of Wemmbu's face approximately six inches from his own, and even in the dim light filtering through the window, he could see how bad it was. Wemmbu was trying to smile—that winning grin he always wore when he knew he'd messed up but was hoping somehow it would all work out anyway—but it was strained at the edges, pulled too tight across his face.
It didn't reach his eyes. Those strange, darkening eyes that had been getting worse for weeks now.
"Wemmbu," Egg said, his voice rough with sleep and something else, something heavier. "What happened."

Summary
The first tear hit his hand before he realized he was crying.
"Shit," he muttered, voice cracking. "Bro, come on."
But once it started, he couldn't stop it. His shoulders shook, and he fumbled with his blindfold, yanking it off before the tears could soak through. The fabric came away in his hands, and he clutched it against his chest while the sword and stone lay forgotten in his lap.
He'd been used before. So many times. People saw what he could do—the fire, the heat, the weapon he could become—and that was all they saw. All they wanted. Until they didn't need him anymore. Until he was too much trouble or too dangerous or too attached, and then they'd leave. Every single time.
The tears came harder now, hot against his skin. His breath hitched in his throat, chest tight with the effort of trying to stay quiet. He didn't want anyone to hear. Didn't want anyone to see him like this—broken down and pathetic behind a crumbling wall.
"I'm so stupid, bro," he whispered to himself, voice cracking. "So stupid."
