She had woken up that morning to the otherside of the bed cold and empty. Caradn wasn’t there, and by the looks of it hadn’t been there at all that day. Jude paused by the window, glancing out, and then did a double take. Quietly, she opened the window to get a better look, and sure enough, there was the High King of Elfhame; sitting there on the roof with his tail swishing back and forth.
or Cardan can't sleep and is left with his thoughts too long. He starts reflecting more than he'd like to, so Jude comes to offer some comfort.
