“And what kind of moronic king names someone like this their champion?!” The man laughed once again, looking directly up above Izuku where the royal seat was occupied.
Something in Izuku snapped, red drowning his vision.
At once, before his opponent could even react, he rushed toward the man and lunged, his spear extended out. With perfect aim, Izuku drove his weapon directly into the man’s remaining eye, then tore it out of his face.
In which the ruthless gladiator Deku is prone to losing all sense when it comes to his king, and King Bakugou is not at all any better at maintaining control when it comes to his prized champion. In more ways than one.

“How long?” Izuku asks, unable to decide which part of Katsuki's face he wants to look at. He grabs Katsuki's shirt again. He clenches it once, twice. “Kacchan, how long?”
What is Katsuki supposed to say here? He can't even remember what it was like not to feel this way. Can't remember when it began either, he only knows that it did. At some point it started and it never stopped. It grew and grew until he knew and he knew he shouldn't and Izuku would never, and the only option he had left was to bury it. Bury it and deny it and let it hurt, yet never say it. Not to himself, not to Izuku—not to anyone.
But Katsuki almost died. And Izuku is here, just like he always has been.
So Katsuki closes his eyes and listens, to the sound of Izuku just being, to the breath on Katsuki's face as his hair tickles his forehead. He opens his heavy eyelids and stares into shining green, and he utters: “For a while.”

He stares at the prettiest person he's ever seen walk by. He has freckles and a mess of curly hair and Katsuki has never been so smitten.

Izuku was 14 when his mother had come home from a date, smelling of alcohol with tears streaming down her face. Mascara leaving inky trails behind.She had stumbled into their apartment near midnight, haphazardly taking off her shoes and coat. Her son helping her get to her room without falling over face first.
Closing her bedroom door behind him, he was stopped by the call of his name in his mothers voice.
"Yeah, mum?"
"We aren't made for love, Izuku. Remember that."
He would, for a long time.
