A familiar pang of agonizing terror echoed in his body like a ghost. Not quite there, but not quite absent, either. He covered Erwin’s folded hands with his own. “Sleep isn’t something I come by easily. The nightmares are never quite as bad when you’re around, but I have them, too.”
Erwin’s hands unclasped and enveloped Levi’s.
“You never told me.”
Levi shook his head. “I didn’t want to add to your burden.”
“I wouldn’t have minded.”
“I know."

Erwin refuses to sleep, and Levi refuses to take no for an answer. Lives like theirs come with heavy burdens, and sometimes they can be hard to share.
