Summary
Eli finds Victor’s “blackout” poetry books, which he can’t stop reading. Through these books, both Eli and Victor find the path that leads them to each other: to kill one another or to give themselves completely to one another.
Somehow, Eli was unable to put Victor out of his mind. It was a toxin he couldn’t get rid of; beautifully intoxicating.
Victor was one of those low-flying bullets that killed.
