Summary
The Lan Empire was expanding at a rapid rate, spilling blood across each land they conquered. Jiang Cheng recently lost his home to flames during their quest for power. Displaced, hungry, but vengeful, he swears to bring the empire down to its knees. He and Wei Wuxian plan to infiltrate the Empire and destroy it from within, he just has to ensure that his heart does not waver during this process.

“What brought you to the club tonight, Porsche?” Kinn asks him, a picture of confidence and calmness as he leans back on the couch.
“I needed a night off,” Porsche answers, shrugging. “I mean, that’s why people go to clubs, isn't it? To dance and relax.”
“Oh, sweetheart,” Kinn says to him, the corner of his mouth twitching. “No one dances like you, when all they want is to relax.”
Porsche hates himself for it, but blood rushes to his face at being so blatantly called out. He’s not the shy or coy type of person, but Kinn’s words just hit him differently. He’s not going to show the effect it has on him, however, so he widens his legs and leans back against the backrest, smiling at Kinn and keeping eye contact.
“I might have been hoping to find an alpha willing to spend the night with me,” Porsche tells him bluntly, enjoying the way Kinn’s pupils dilate.
The man looks him up and down, lingering on the exposed chest, and answers in a rumbly voice, “You just found one, sweetheart. Congratulations.”

Summary
Boggart yaos are deadly shapeshifters that scare their victims to death by taking the shape of their worst fears. Their true form has never been seen by anyone in recorded history…until now.
A post-canon Xicheng fic.
…"You wish to know why the boggart yao did not take on a form when it faced me?" he asks. "What should I have left to be afraid of, I wonder? Losing my parents, my siblings, my home? The shidis and shimeis I grew up with? Or should I fear failing my duty to my sect by remaining unmarried and heirless? Perhaps I should be scared of failing those I love the most."
He risks a glance towards Wei Wuxian and Jin Ling, and instantly regrets it. Wei Wuxian is in tears, and his nephew doesn't look a whole lot better. Breathing in deeply, Jiang Cheng looks at Lan Xichen instead, drawing strength from the steadiness of his presence.
"What form could a boggart yao take for me," he finishes, "when everything I ever feared has already come to pass?"

The spiral of his thoughts drained him further. The fire of determination had been snuffed out within him and Jiang Wanyin was out of reasons to keep on fighting. As he lay down on his bed, he dreamt of life without all of these feelings he had struggled all his life. He wanted to get away from himself and from how draining his life was. But he knew he couldn’t do that if he kept surrounding himself with the people and places that reminded him of those feelings.
Here, in Lotus Pier, the memories of his inadequacy in so many ways suffocated him slowly and constantly throughout his life. All his life, he had been drowning. Eventually, he knew he would stop struggling to stay afloat and just let the water swallow him.
This place was going to kill him.
