Summary
Geralt x fem!reader shapeshifter AU. Some magic users have the ability to shapeshift, though they are a rare kind. Geralt is injured while in his animal form, separated from his pack. He is limping through the forest when he comes across the distinct scent of his kind and follows it back to Y/N, who is unaware of shapeshifters, as they are a closely guarded secret. She sees Geralt in his animal form, and though she is afraid, she helps him and takes him back to her home to heal his wounds. Their journey starts from there as they discover hidden powers and lurking terrors, intent on gaining access to the secrets of the shapeshifters.

Geralt is a white wolf obvi, Ciri is clearly a lion, Yen is prolly like a birb (golden eagle or maybe raven?) or maybe, like a black fox idk I’m less sure abt her but I just really need this au.”

“Can you…” His voice sounds thin. He clears his throat and tries again. Lower, more demanding. “I think you owe me.”
You blink. “I’m sorry?” One of his hands slams past your shoulder into the wall.
“I think… you owe me.” He repeats thickly. Whatever side effect he complained about is taking a toll on his body. He’s so warm you can feel the heat radiating through his suit. You shift against the wall. You’re no fool but decide to play as one. It may be the safest option.
“I don’t have any money,” You begin to apologize. The hand on the wall tilts toward you, something sharp catches your sleeve.
“Come on, you’re smarter than that.” You want to roll your eyes but don’t dare to look away from the streaks on the mask. He’s just behind them, watching. Assessing. Waiting. “A pretty girl like you has better resources than cash.” The back of your neck prickles. Desperation still writhes on the surface of his words, but there’s more control now. He’s goading you. Trying to see if you’ll rise to the challenge, give the go-ahead.
He did save your life, after all.
